Public Meeting organised by MHK for Glenfaba & Peel to Address Proposed Greenfield Housing Zoning Concerns and Town Centre Improvements

Residents of Glenfaba & Peel are invited to attend an important public meeting scheduled for Thursday, 13th March at 7:00 PM at the Kelvin Dawson Community Hub.

The meeting organised by Kate Lord-Brennan MHK, aims to bring together local residents to discuss two topics:

  1. The North West Area Plan: Background and Why and How to Register Opposition and views against the expansion of the town into green fields for more housing.
  2. Improvements for the centre of Peel

Community involvement is crucial in shaping the future of Peel, and this meeting provides a way for residents to be directly informed, ask questions and find out how to make their views known officially.

The first part of the meeting will focus on the expansion of Peel and potential zoning of greenfield land for housing development as outlined in the , and the background to the legal process to date. With the final consultation on this closing very soon on Thursday 27th March, attendees will learn how to effectively register their opposition to protect Peel’s green spaces and limit the further expansion of the town.

To help constituents in this process Kate Lord-Brennan MHK has prepared a summary Consultation Guide focusing on the fields on Peel’s outskirts, from Douglas Road to Ramsey Road, at the back of the Slieau Whallian View and Ballawattleworth estates, including why and how to register opposition.

The second part of the evening will shift focus to ideas and potential routes, including funding routes, for improvements to the centre of Peel following work already carried out on ideas to enhance the town’s aesthetic appeal and functionality.  The meeting will cover what needs to happen next for possible progress for the town centre, and follows the MHK’s “Future Peel” online engagement and the launch of the Local Economy Strategy by Government.
